HS Band & Audition Information 10/11

 

Requirements for Northeast District Auditions

c               Play Solo

·      Get CD recording from me or – >

·      Get it on the Music Dept. Website (hazenunion.org/music/)

c               Play 2 scales selected at random from 9 scales:

·      C G D A E F Bb Eb Ab

(Your starting note-not concert pitch)

c               Drummers: 3 out of 10 Rudiments (see sheet)

c               Play the Chromatic Scale (full range of your instrument)

c               Sightread a short selection

 

Requirements for All-State Auditions

c               Same as above, but all 12 scales need to be prepared

 

HS Band Scale test requirements:

*There are also weekly SmartMusic scales quizzes*

c               9th graders: All 12 major scales & Chromatic

       NOT memorized

c               10th graders: 9 scales (see above) & Chromatic MEMORIZED

c               11th & 12th graders: 12 scales & Chromatic

       MEMORIZED

c               Arpeggios for extra credit in all grades

c               Drummers – all grades - first 13 rudiments

       MEMORIZED (scales on bells for extra credit)

 

HS Band Lessons:

c               6 lessons per quarter – 3 before each progress report period

c               You are responsible for signing up on your own
